Cookie Policy
Last updated: 15 June 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Benchscope Ltd ("Benchscope", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and related services (the "Service").
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help websites function, remember your preferences, and provide information about how the site is used.
2. Cookies we use
We use a small number of cookies. The table below lists each one, what it does, and how long it lasts.
| Cookie or technology | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| benchscope_cookie_consent | Benchscope | Stores your cookie consent preference so we do not ask again on every visit. | 1 year |
| ph_* (e.g. ph_phc_...) | PostHog | Analytics - identifies your browser across sessions to understand how the Service is used (pages visited, features used, session data). Data is processed via PostHog's EU endpoint. | 1 year |
| ph_ses_* | PostHog | Session identification for analytics. Helps distinguish separate visits. | 30 minutes |
3. Cookie categories
We use two categories of cookie:
- Strictly necessary - required for the Service to work. The benchscope_cookie_consent cookie falls into this category. These cookies are set without requiring your consent.
- Analytics - help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. PostHog cookies fall into this category. These are only set if you accept analytics cookies.
4. Analytics
We use PostHog for product analytics. PostHog collects information such as pages visited, features used, session duration, approximate location derived from IP address, and browser and device type. Data is processed via PostHog's EU endpoint (eu.i.posthog.com). PostHog analytics cookies are only set after you give consent via our cookie banner.
We use Sentry for error monitoring. Sentry may collect diagnostic information when errors occur, including technical details about the error, browser, device and page where it happened. Sentry is used to maintain the reliability and security of the Service. We do not use Sentry for advertising or marketing tracking.
5. Map tile requests
Our interactive maps are powered by MapLibre GL. Map tiles are delivered by CARTO (basemaps.cartocdn.com), which serves OpenStreetMap-derived map data. When you view a map on Benchscope, your browser makes requests directly to CARTO's servers. These requests include your IP address as part of standard web traffic. CARTO does not set cookies on Benchscope users via this integration. You can read more about CARTO's data practices at carto.com/privacy.
6. Your consent
When you first visit Benchscope, you will be shown a cookie banner. You can choose to accept or reject analytics cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are always active as they are required for the Service to function. You can change your preferences at any time using the "Manage Cookies" link in our website footer.
7. Managing cookies
You can control cookies in several ways:
- Cookie banner - use the Benchscope cookie banner to accept or reject analytics cookies.
- Browser settings - most browsers allow you to view, block or delete cookies. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Service may not work properly.
- PostHog opt-out - you can opt out of PostHog analytics tracking by visiting posthog.com/privacy.
8. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a Do Not Track feature. There is no consistent industry standard for how websites should respond to these signals, and our Service does not currently respond to them. You can manage your preferences using the cookie banner instead.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as the Service changes. We will post updates on this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
10. Contact
If you have questions about cookies or this policy, contact us at privacy@benchscope.com.
