CuanTec is an industrial biotechnology company manufacturing high-specification chitosan, a natural, biodegradable biopolymer, from crustacean shell waste sourced from the UK fishing industry.

Its proprietary process extracts chitin from shellfish byproduct and converts it into pharmaceutical and biomedical-grade chitosan in powder, granule, and solution forms.

Applications include biomedical devices, wound care, dental products, veterinary uses, water purification, and agriculture.

The company manufactures to HACCP standards from its Glenrothes, Fife facility.
