Anti-inflammatory drugs for neurodegenerative disease

Sitala Bio is a Cambridge-based biotech developing small molecule drugs that target chronic neuroinflammation in conditions such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.

The company's approach focuses on blocking microglial dysfunction to restore toxin clearance in the brain.

Founded by NLRP3 inflammasome expert Matt Cooper, who previously founded Inflazome and sold it to Roche for €380 million in 2020, Sitala licensed the oral anti-inflammatory candidate FXS6837 from Fosun Pharma in a deal worth ~$670 million.
